6 Months Old, and O-MY!

Super Six Months Old!

Well, Mr. Charming is now 6 months 0ld (okay, he’s 6.5 months old now, but it’s busy season, so I’m late posting this). It’s crazy all the development he’s done lately! So first, the stats – at his 6 month checkup, munchkin was 17 pounds, 26 inches, and had a tooth! Seriously, when the doc said, “oh, and he’s got a tooth!” I said, “what? it wasn’t there this morning!” Sure enough, tooth number 1 poked through sometime during the day on October 28. Tooth number two just broke through this week (Wednesday, the 10th, to be exact). He’s perfectly healthy and doing very well!

Sam’s crawling EVERYWHERE now. He started with a few faltering crawl-steps in Colorado about a week before he was six months old, and now he’s everywhere and into everything (power cords seem to have a special appeal to him  – HELLO BABY PROOFING!). Sam is also pulling up, and yesterday started “mom surfing.” It’s not couch surfing, but if I’m lying on the floor with him, he’ll pull up on me, and surf from shoulder to hips and back again. Oh, and today he got really brave and started letting one hand go (standing still) and looking at me with an ear-to-ear grin as if to say, “do you SEE what I’m doing? I am the BEST. THING. EVER!”

We’re also eating solids now – Sam LOOOOOOOVES green beans, sweet potatoes, squash, and thinks peas are just ok. He was NOT a fan of apples the last time we tried them (we’ll keep trying fruits – no child of mine will turn up his nose at fruits), and he just never warmed to the rice cereal. Now, oatmeal with fruit is a totally different story. That he gobbles up like a MONSTER! It’s pretty funny.

Oh, and to mark the momentous occasion of Sam’s 6-month-birthday, Daddy made up a song for him. It goes something like, “Happy happy half-year, we’re gonna celebrate! We’re gonna have a party, because you are so great!”
