Well, y’all, thanks so much for the support from last night’s post. Really and truly, it helped more than you know. ย And, since the last two posts have been rather downers (okay, truly downers), to prove I’m not always a negative Nellie, this post will be more fun. Continue Reading »
I have to confess something. I have a jealous streak – a big one. I try to suppress it, and most of the time I’m successful. But there are days when I don’t do so well at controlling my green-eyed monster. Sometimes it rears up when I least expect it. Like the way my husband looked trying on some really great-looking (I mean, WAY sexy-model-type!) jeans at the store and realizing just how other women must see him. I mean, he looked so yummy that for a second I didn’t see the man I’ve always loved; I saw the piece of meat that other single women would be “hubba-hubba”-ing behind my back. This particular episode (like many others I’ll admit to – this is a confession after all, right?) I know was brought about by my own insecurity (and the hubby’s cute butt!). And, for the record, yes, it did also serve to reinforce to my mind just how lucky I am to be with this man forever!
Then there are the times that jealousy rears up simply because I fall victim to wanting to “keep up with the Joneses.” I momentarily forget that I certainly have everything I need and much, much more. Typically the “Joneses-Jealousy” and the insecurity-jealousy pass pretty quickly and do minimal damage. Continue Reading »
I’m a little late posting this, but I’ll try to give a quick recap.
Hanukkah came first this year, and we had a delightful time. The big boys got the present the wanted the MOSTMOSTMOST, a Knect for the Xbox 360. Here’s a video of them getting to open it – it starts with Daddy counting to 3 so they could start to open it at the same time. (They got a little excited.)
Yes, that’s Sam crying in the background when the excitement got too loud for his tastes. Continue Reading »
No, I’m not talking about the kind that children have – the kind where your little one wakes up SCREAMING for no apparent reason, and simply will not be comforted (in many cases, your little one isn’t even really awake) by any of the normal devices. I’m talking about parental night terrors. The worries that come out of nowhere – or more accurately, sneak out of that scary little place in the back of your mind that you keep locked up tight – and keep you awake at night. I battled one last night. Continue Reading »
A couple weekends ago, Sam was playing in the living room with Bubba and Daddy, while Bear was drinking some hot cocoa in the kitchen. As Bear watched Sam play, he said, “Awwww, Sam. You’re way cuter than the baby on THIS mug.”

Daddy and I started giggling almost immediately. It took Bubba a minute to realize what mug Bear was using, and about a split second after Bubba realized it, Bear figured it out. We all got a good laugh out of it (Bubba is SO good-natured!).
See? What’d I tell ya’? LOVE. That. Kid.
And, for the record, Daddy and I agree that Bubba was an adorable baby as well – the opinions in this post are purely Bear’s. ๐
Since I haven’t gotten around to publishing my Hanukkah post yet, some of y’all might not know that last Saturday, Sam came down with his first nasty, retching tummy bug (which, subsequently, Daddy and I both got, but that’s another story, of which I will spare you the details).ย
Now, I should also mention that Sam really has been pretty much refusing solids since this tummy bug. Because I’ve been having some supply issues, that means Sam has been getting more formula than usual. Formula has a whole lot more iron in it than breastmilk. Iron is rather constipating. . . (you can see where this is going, right?) Of course, this caught up with Sam by Friday and he didn’t poopy (isn’t it funny how we always say we won’t be “that mom” who always talks about her kid’s poopy, and then we do anyway?) from Friday at school until Sunday mid-afternoon. A week ago, I made my “triumphant” return to racing post-baby. I say triumphant because, even though I didn’t win, or even place in my age group (heck, I didn’t do that pre-baby, so why start now?), I did make it through the whole race without any walking, and in much better time than I thought I would. I did the Santa Scurry 5k in Keller. It was a fun, family-friendly night-time race. The course started and ended in front of Keller’s Town Hall, and ran through Bear Creek Park. Since it was a night race, the course was lit with tiki torches, and there were race helpers at key turns along the way, helping to direct folks. I was a little worried about the dark parts of the course, but it turned out to be really easy to follow. I would not, however, have wanted to be pushing a jogging stroller along the course, mainly because parts of it were rather narrow. There were quite a few I saw (in particular one who came whizzing past me – I was duly impressed), though, and heard of no problems. I will say that my Garmin showed the course as being almost two-tenths of a mile short, which kind of bummed me about my time, but Bryan has convinced me to let it go. Continue Reading »
Sam hit the 7 month mark on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. He’s been growing like crazy! For the quick stats, he was at 18 pounds, 2 ounces at the dr. on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Yes, we were at the doctor’s office right before the holiday. . . for ear infection number 3. Yes, the “T” word has been uttered. The doctor has said that at the next ear infection, she’ll be referring us to an ENT to see about getting tubes put in Sam’s ears. ๐ Continue Reading »
Most of you know that I was, pre-baby, a runner (mind you, I wasn’t fast, nor did I have lengthy endurance, but I did run multiple miles quite regularly, and enjoyed it). Most of you know I’ve been struggling to get enough balance back between work, new mommyhood, and crazy-busy schedules to get back into running. Continue Reading »
Well, Mr. Charming is now 6 months 0ld (okay, he’s 6.5 months old now, but it’s busy season, so I’m late posting this). It’s crazy all the development he’s done lately! So first, the stats – at his 6 month checkup, munchkin was 17 pounds, 26 inches, and had a tooth! Seriously, when the doc said, “oh, and he’s got a tooth!” I said, “what? it wasn’t there this morning!” Sure enough, tooth number 1 poked through sometime during the day on October 28. Tooth number two just broke through this week (Wednesday, the 10th, to be exact). He’s perfectly healthy and doing very well! Continue Reading »
