Recent Grandma and Grandpa Visits

What a treat we had in September (hush, I know I’m late)! We got to visit with Grandma and Grandpa TWICE IN ONE MONTH!

First, Daddy, Sam, and I went to Houston for Grandma’s 60th birthday celebration. (Bubba and Bear were with their Mom that weekend, and both had sporting events, so, sadly, they didn’t get to come with us.) Continue Reading »

Flexibility

No, I’m not talking about the kind I had back in my high school and college dance team days. I’m talking about work flexibility. Since I started with my company over a decade ago (yes, really), we’ve had a pretty flexible work schedule. The general understanding is that an employee works out a schedule with his or her manager that best fits the employee’s needs and the department’s needs (within reason). That includes arrival times between 6 am and 9 am, with a corresponding flexibility in departure times. Most weeks we can also work ahead up to 4 hours and leave early on Fridays. Continue Reading »

Catcher’s Cape

Published by under Daneman Boys,Samuel Lewis

What? You mean you’ve never seen a catcher who included a cape and workbench-leg-shin guards in his gear?

Ask a silly question…

Daddy went to the store tonight, and when Sadie went crazy at the window, Sam and I thought he was home. To the window we rushed to greet him, and Sam didn’t quite apply the brakes soon enough. BONK! Head to window corner. When I asked him if he was okay, he half-wimpered, “yes…” while rubbing his forehead. I leaned down and said, “where did you hit your head?” Without missing a beat, he pointed to the impact spot…on the wall. “Right dere…”

Well, I *did* ask…

Kid-Pitch starts anew with Kiddo #2!

And at bat - walked, stole 2nd, 3rd, and home!

Yes, folks, we’ve hit another sports milestone! Caleb starts kid-pitch baseball this (fall) season, and he’s doing great! The Keller 9U Chargers started their fall season last night with a bummer of a loss. BUT, the kids had fun, played well, and my Bear got to come in as a relief pitcher! Daddy said** he did great–didn’t allow any runners in the 3rd inning and even picked off a runner at 1st! We’re very proud – what a great start!

Caleb pitching!

**Unfortunately, the game was too late in the evening for Sam and me to attend, so BIG THANKS to Daddy for keeping us updated via FB and text. Photo credit to him, also (obviously).

Yellow Bike!

It’s finally here! We’ve had the bike for not quite 24 hours, and I think he’s only been off it long enough to sleep.

First, the stills:

What's this?

My BIKE!!!

CHEEEESE!

Dis MY bike.

And he's off!

Really concentrating.

Parking the bike in the office and hanging his helmet on the handlebars.

Favorite quotes: “I park my bike in the office.” “We don’t eat bikes. We ride bikes.” (this morning) “We go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.” “The big truck bring my lellow bike!” “Dis look like a motorcycle!”

Now, the videos:

BIG THANKS to Daddy for putting the bike together (with lots of “help” from Sam, I’m sure) and for taking some of those great still shots! 🙂

Rockin’ Out

On Sunday (before the meltdown of epic proportions, if you happened to see my FB on Sunday), Sam found the microphone that goes with our Guitar Hero game.

Clearly, he’s a rock star in the making. (And I didn’t even get the best part on camera – after each “set” he’d call out, “Thanks, guys!”)

Living Room Swim

Published by under Samuel Lewis

Sam found some goggles yesterday evening and decided to go for a swim…in the living room.

He started with the backstroke:

Then switched to the crawl.

Michael Phelps, watch out. Sam’s coming after your records!

The Economy

Published by under Samuel Lewis

This morning:

S: Mommy, you talk to me?

M: Yes, baby. What do you want to talk about?

S: You talk to me?

M: Sure. What should we talk about? The economy?

S: Yeah, deconomee

M: Okay, what do you think about the economy?

S: You give deconomee? You give dat conomee? (pointing to the table)

M: You want “datconomee”?

S: Yes

M: Okay, here you go.

Sam with "deconomee" (one of Daddy's birthday cards...it sings "Free Bird" over and over and...
