I’m not talking great, miraculous distances here, but I enjoyed getting out several times a week to do at least 3 miles, and I’ve done as much as 6 at a stretch (unlike my fabulous hubby, who will be doing his first half marathon at the end of this month). Well, I got pregnant in the heat of the summer and pretty quickly didn’t feel like running for a while. When I did start to feel better, I was just uncomfortable because, well, things are bigger now!

Lately, though, I’ve felt the effects of being less active. And now that I’m in the third trimester, I’m feeling large and ungainly, no matter how many people tell me how tiny I still look. Luckily, the gym Bryan and I belong to has an indoor pool. I had the genious idea to get a maternity swimsuit and try swimming some laps. Okay, okay, it’s not MY original idea – lots of pregnancy resources say it’s great exercise, and I have to admit that the idea of being weightless for a little bit is more tempting than a double cheeseburger and large chocolate shake…almost. So, I braved Target and shopped for a maternity swimsuit.

I’m like most women in that swimsuit shopping isn’t exactly my idea of the most fun shopping trip ever…harsh flourescent lighting and warped dressing room mirrors just don’t flatter anyone. But add a distended baby belly and xx lbs baby weight (hey, you didn’t really think I’d tell you how much I’ve put on, do you???) and it’s every woman’s nightmare! Thankfully, Target had some really cute styles, and even sizes that fit my huge new…um…belly, yeah…and I did succeed in finding one. Now, if you promise not to laugh (or at least promise not to TELL me you laughed) I’ve posted a picture of the new suit below. I’m hoping it’ll last the next three months and get me into the summer until I’m comfortable back in my pre-pg suits (if that EVER happens again – hah!)…

Modeling the swimsuit; almost 30 weeks.

If you know me, you know I used to think of myself as a runner before I got pregnant.
