Quick “Big-‘uns” Update
Since most of my more recent posts have been about our newest addition, I need to update y’all on my wonderful big boys, too! Right now the biggest one is shooting paper airplanes in the backyard, and the middle one is painting a birdhouse and playing with the dog (also in the backyard). They both finished up the school year in fine style. Jacob got all As on his report card again, making that straight As for the year, and I think something like 18 straight six-weeks of straight As. Caleb finished Kindergarten with all Es in conduct and had a fun luau-themed graduation.
Jacob’s team finished first in their division in KYA baseball and got really nice trophies! The team was quite proud!
It’s been a wild summer so far. Both boys are on the summer All-star baseball (and t-ball) teams for their age groups (Jacob on the 9U Keller Gold, Caleb on the 6U Keller Blue). We’ve been to lots of games – our weekends are baseball, baseball, baseball! It’s been so hot that usually Sam and I opt for the morning and evening games, and leave the heat-of-the-day games to Daddy.
Caleb’s team took first place at a tournament in Austin the second weekend of June, and Jacob’s team took first place at the Keller Summer Classic tournament last weekend. We are so proud of them – they’re such great ballplayers! They’ve made some good friends on their teams, and are generally having a blast. We haven’t been injury-free, however. Tuesday a week ago (that would be June 15), Caleb took a trip to the Cook’s Children’s Hospital ER. WHAT?!? You’re asking? I know – I said the same thing when I got the text from Bryan. See, I was at City Hall with Jacob. The All-Star teams (all ages) were being honored at the City Council meeting – the Mayor read an official proclamation and everything – so Jacob, Sam and I went to that with Jacob’s team. Caleb’s team had a tournament game, so Daddy was there with him. Caleb was playing catcher and had tossed off his mask to make a play on the runner at third. Meanwhile, the kiddo who had just scored, was walking back to his team’s dugout in fair territory, carrying a bat…can you guess where this is going? Yep, the bat got swung, hitting Caleb right between the eyes. One ER trip and 1o stitches later (2 internal, 8 external), and our Bear is doing just fine! The stitches came out on Father’s Day morning, and now we’re just waiting for the steristrips to come off so he can go swimming again. He had to miss two games, but by the weekend was right back to playing again.
Here are a few pics from the Keller summer classic:
And a picture from the t-ball end of season party (pre-All-star season!)
And, I can’t resist a couple pictures of all three of my boys…
