Shower o’ Gifts!
This past weekend, three wonderful friends hosted an amazing baby shower for me and Baby D. I truly can’t believe how generous folks are and how blessed we are to have so many caring, loving, wonderful people in our lives.
The three hostesses are three of my closest friends. Tori flew in from Denver, CO (did I mention she’s due with baby #2 about 10 days after Baby D is due?), and Sara (due with baby #1 about 10 days before Baby D) and Jennie were local hostesses. Jennie opened up her home to all of us, and we had a grand time! There was wonderful food and cake (chocolate, of course!), great fun conversations, and gifts galore! Baby D is pretty much all set now!
And, until I get things put away in his room, I no longer have a dining room – it’s filled (literally) with baby presents! This was a girls’ only shower, so Bryan and the boys, along with Uncle Steven, Zayde, and cousin Elijah spent the morning/afternoon at Jacob’s basketball game and then a big brunch afterward at Nelson’s restaurant.
Saturday evening, the boys got a little more interested in checking out the room full of gifts. Both were quite interested in the bouncy seat, especially when they saw it in action. (I turned on the vibration and the motion-activated toys, which they thought were really cool.) Jacob was also quite impressed with the number of hand-made baby blankets we received.
My mother sews beautifully, and she made us 4 blankets and promises there are at least 4 more on the way. Sara and Melissa both crochet beautifully and each made us crocheted blankets. Melissa and Tori also made fleece tie-blankets for us that are SO soft, I want to sleep with them! And Margaret made Baby D a “rag quilt” that has all these fun tabbies to keep baby’s interest. 🙂 We also have some knitted blankets that my Nana made before she passed away that have been in waiting for another baby. Baby D is that lucky baby!
There are so many other wonderful gifts we received, and we’re so thankful for all of them, but if I tried to list them all, you’d be reading all day! So, while I’m working on official thank you notes to individuals, for now let me say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came and, quite literally, showered us with gifts! We are so blessed and grateful!
For your amusement, below are some more pics from the shower. Apparently I make ca-razy goofy faces when I open presents (and these are the ones I’m brave enough to post – imagine what the others look like!)
