Little Monkeys
The other night, Bryan was doing some laundry (yes, he really is a dream husband most of the time!) and he noticed something he hadn’t seen before. A purchase I’d made at the Fort Worth Just Between Friends Sale was hanging in the laundry room to dry. (Yes, nesting is in full swing and baby clothes are being washed. Don’t you just love the smell of Dreft? But, I digress…) The conversation went something like this:
B: Um, Julie? What is this?
J: What? (as I slowly amble–that’s my only speed now–to the laundry room)
B: This! What is this for, a doll? (as he’s swinging a tiny, brown shirt in my general direction)
J: No! It’s for the baby!
B: The baby does NOT need an under armour shirt!
J: *giggle* It’s not under armour; it’s an SPF 50 shirt for this summer and it matches the swimsuit I bought him. The baby can’t wear sunscreen until he’s 6 months old, so he NEEDS this!
B: (eyes rolling, head shaking) Oooooooooooooooooookay. . .*snicker, snort*
J: Ooooh, but it’s so cute! It’s orange with little MONKEYS on it (you have to read this in your best “Julie’s-excited-little-kid-bouncing-up-and-down” voice. It’s one of the many things Bryan likes to laugh at me for. I’m so lucky that I amuse him so.)
So, here’s a picture of the shirt (with suit and hat) that started the whole conversation:What can I say? I’m a sucker for little swimsuits (and overalls, and hats, and socks, and. . . oh, wait, I’m doing it again). And Bryan knew when he married me that I’m a summer girl and that I come from a “water family.” We love the pool, the beach, etc. So, of course, with little man arriving just before summer, he has to be ready to join us in our favorite summer activities–sprinklers in the backyard, beach time and pool time with Grandma and Grandpa Guess–but safely, of course! Won’t he be so adorable?!? He just needs some shades to complete the outfit!
They do make some baby sunscreen they can wear before that–though I guarantee he’ll hate having it put on, so the sunscreen shirt is a good purchase–and OH SO CUTE!
That is super cute! My favorite part of the conversation is that Bryan thought it was for a doll, not considering it could be for the baby. It’s easy to forget when you aren’t around a baby for awhile just how little the clothes are.
LOL…I just couldn’t imagine a shirt like that for someone so small, so it had to be from a doll, right?
It’s only fair that after providing so much amusement for Julie, that she provides some to me.
