Of Pirate Songs and Exaggerations
Wednesday nights the past 8 weeks have been sort of my favorite night of the week. Jacob and Bryan have basketball practice, so I get some good one-on-one (one-on-two?) time with Caleb and Sam.
Last night was no different. As the three of us headed up to Chick-Fil-A to grab an oh-so-nutritious dinner (don’t judge, we’ve all done it), Caleb was telling me about how some of the kids in his class were late because their bus broke down on the way to school.
Me: Well, aren’t you glad you don’t have to ride the bus? Aren’t you lucky that between Mom and Dad and Ike and me, someone can take you to school?
C: Yes.
Me: You know, when I was in school, I had to ride the bus everyday, because Grandma Ann and Grandpa Reggie had to be at work before I went to school. You know, back a hundred years ago when I was in school.
C: [momentary silence, then, with a grin] You’re exaaaaaaagerating, Julie.
Me: [giggling] well, maybe a liiiiiiitle bit.
Then, as we waited for our food, Caleb told me about what he learned in music class that day. A Pirate song! And he sang it for Sam and me, to much adoration! I don’t have him singing it on video (yet), but I did find this YouTube version of it. I *might* have been humming it a good portion of the night last night.
