Aces First Tournament, First Championship
Jacob’s baseball team, the Keller Aces, had their first tournament this past weekend. They played two games on Saturday resulting in one loss and one tie. (He had already played a basketball game Saturday morning and Friday night, and Caleb had played a basketball game on Saturday, so to say it was a full sports weekend is an understatement.)
The games on Saturday meant the Aces were the #11 seed, with a 2pm game in Plano to start the day. Now, we knew that if they won the 2pm game, they’d play at 4. If they won the 4pm game, they’d play at 6, and if they won the 6pm game, the tournament championship was at 8pm. All the games were in Plano at Enfield Park. Now, we all know these boys are future Major Leaguers, but this was the first tournament they’ve played as a team. So, well…we sort of wouldn’t have been surprised to be driving more than we were at baseball games…
Boy, did they show us! The Aces played (and beat, in order) the #6, #3, #7, and #1 seeds. Yes, you read that right. They played FOUR games, back to back to back to back, and won the tournament championship! It was 10 hours of baseball, but I think every parent and ballplayer and sibling will tell you it was WELL worth it.
